About Pawsitive Paws
About me
Hi, I’m Alex, the owner of Pawsitive Paws.
I’ve always loved working with dogs, and after years of caring for my own and working at a dog day care, I decided to turn that passion into a business. I’m fully dog first aid certified and committed to giving every dog safe, happy and positive experiences.
With me, your dog isn’t just another booking — they become part of the Pawsitive Paws family. Whether it’s a walk, a basic training session, or just a pop-in cuddle and feed, you can trust they’ll be treated with love, care and professionalism.

FAQs
Q: What times will my dog be walked?
A: Walks are booked in time windows (morning, midday, afternoon, evening) rather than exact times. This allows flexibility with routes and ensures all dogs get quality time. We’ll try to keep your dog’s slot consistent each week.
Q: Do you walk dogs in bad weather?
A: Yes — walks go ahead in most weather conditions. We may shorten walks in extreme heat or icy conditions, but your dog will still get toilet breaks and enrichment time.
Q: Do you walk multiple dogs together?
A: Small, safe group walks are available, but we’ll only walk dogs together if they’re friendly, well-matched, and have your permission. Solo walks can also be arranged.
Q: Are you insured and first aid trained?
A: Yes — we’re fully insured for dog walking, training, pop-ins, and pet transport. We’re also certified in Canine First Aid.
Q: Do you offer a meet and greet before starting?
A: Absolutely. All new clients get a free meet & greet so we can get to know your dog, discuss routines, and complete the necessary paperwork.
Q: How do I pay for services?
A: Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash. Training sessions are paid at the time of booking, while walks and pop-ins are normally invoiced weekly in advance.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel?
A: Walks cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice and training sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
Q: Do you transport dogs in your van?
A: Yes — dogs are safely transported in secure crates, in our fully insured van.
â
Q: What does the training you offer include?
A: My training focuses on basic manners and foundation skills such as loose lead walking, sit, stay and recall. đĄ I don’t work with aggression or more complex behavioural issues — for those, I recommend a qualified behaviourist who can provide the specialist support your dog needs. This way, I can give every dog the right kind of help and keep training safe, positive and effective.
â
Why do you use a slip lead?
We sometimes use a slip lead for loose lead training because it gives gentle guidance while your dog is learning. It is never used harshly or to correct — instead, it’s paired with rewards and encouragement so your dog learns that walking calmly by your side is comfortable and rewarding. Over time, the slip lead becomes just a tool to support the training process, with the goal of your dog walking happily on any lead.
â
What if my dog doesn’t respond to training?
Every dog learns differently, and some take longer than others. Training is a journey, not an instant fix, and it depends on patience, practice and consistency at home. Together, we’ll make sure you have the right tools and guidance to keep making progress.
